James brings 30 years of cross-industry experience in the software industry to lead corporate strategy and build operational excellence at PureWeb. He works with staff, investors, and partners to bring the potential of the immersive web experiences to increase innovation, protect the environment, and increase commerce to billions of people worldwide.
As the Sales leader for the PureWeb Reality platform, Marc leads with the mind set that the client comes first. Their needs are to be strategically aligned with PureWeb's solutions ensuring the technical capabilities are prescribed appropriately.
He brings over 20 years of sales experience as an individual contributor, sales leader, and executive manager and is inspired and impassioned every day to do right by our customers. By leading with transparency and empathy and focusing on the organizational vision, he empowers each person to tackle challenges, optimize a client-driven experience, and deliver quantifiable results.
Abdul is the Vice President of Business Operations at PureWeb. In his role, Abdul keeps the company connected and operational, whether at home or in the office, and ensures PureWeb and its partners’ technology complies with regulatory requirements in Canada and operating locations around the world.
Since joining PureWeb in 2012, Abdul has occupied several roles in business operations and project management, giving him a 360-degree view of how PureWeb translates powerful graphics technology into powerful interactive 3D experiences. Prior to joining PureWeb, Abdul worked for over 12 years in technical product management and customer relationship management.
With over 10 years of product development and software architecture experience, Chris is responsible for PureWeb Reality’s integrated product and software development organization. In his role, he works closely with customers, end-users, and almost every facet of PureWeb’s business to ensure that the product we are building solves a meaningful and valuable problem for our customer, and that our implementation of that solution is technologically resilient, secure, scalable, and maintainable.
Candy’s focus is on articulating the unique value PureWeb’s solution delivers to its customers by developing and implementing the company’s demand generation and lead generation strategy.
She brings over 10 years of experience in brand marketing, GTM strategy, product marketing, content development, and campaign execution. Since joining PureWeb in 2021, she takes pride in advocating for and communicating PureWeb’s mission to maximize business value and deepen relationships through immersive experiences.
In Kevin’s role, he heads up PureWeb’s applied research initiatives by seeking out, discovering, and prototyping ideas that may one day lead to advances in our products, novel features, and even wholly new ways of viewing and participating in the metaverse and shared digital experiences.
Kevin fosters innovation within R&D and across the entire organization. He brings with him over two decades of experience researching, developing, and leading others to develop software products that are maintainable, built with care, and deliver great user experiences.
Christian oversees a team of technical support specialists that help the PureWeb sales team communicate all the technical requirements of our platform when meeting with prospects, and is the technical support team for existing customers. His team also includes Account Managers, who engage with customers as their point of contact to drive renewals and upsell opportunities.
Christian has a Bachelor of Computer Science and previously was a Product Manager. In his current role, he serves as the hub between our product development team and our customers.
As PureWeb’s Corporate Controller, Ranvir supervises all of PureWeb’s accounting and financial functions. In his role, he establishes and implements financial policies, performs financial risk assessments, and prepares financial statements, budgets, and forecasts. Additionally, Ranvir provides oversight on the financial activities of managers and staff.
A Designated Accountant, Ranvir joined PureWeb in 2015 and brings with him over 10 years of experience in industries such as wholesale, production, oil & gas, and software.
A radiologist by training, Dr. Fong is an active seed investor in start-up companies and is widely credited for launching the Rockies site of Creative Destruction Lab. He was invested into the Order of Canada in 2017 for his contribution to medical technology innovation and for his philanthropic activities. Chen was inducted into the Alberta Business Hall of Fame and is a recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Calgary.
Laurie is a serial entrepreneur who has launched and led several companies to successful exits. His first business, Datum Telegraphic, generated one of the highest returns ever in BC for an angel-backed company. Laurie was the executive chair for both Partnerpedia (acquired by BMC Software) and Recon Instruments (acquired by Intel). Both deals provided handsome returns to their investors. He currently invests, sits on the board, and chairs a number of Western Canadian technology companies.
Dr. Cannon is president emerita of the University of Calgary after serving as president and vice chancellor from 2010-2018. Previously, she was dean of the Schulich School of Engineering. Dr. Cannon’s received many honours including an NSERC Steacie Award and Engineers Canada Gold Medal. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Canadian Academy of Engineering, and is an elected foreign associate of the National Academy of Engineering. Named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women, she has five honorary degrees and was named an Officer of the Order of Canada. She’s a member of the Board of Trustees of the Aga Khan University, a Fellow of the Creative Destruction Lab – Rockies, and a Director of the Gairdner Foundation and the Rideau Hall Foundation.
Ajay is an economist and professor at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. He conducts research on the economics of innovation and serves on the editorial board of Management Science. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles as well as co-authored two books on Harvard Business Press: Prediction Machines: The Simple Economics of Artificial Intelligence (2018), and Power & Prediction: The Disruptive Economics of Artificial Intelligence (2022).
He is the founder of the Creative Destruction Lab and cofounder of NEXT Canada, both not-for-profit programs that support the commercialization of science via entrepreneurship. He is a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts; an academic advisory council member at the Center on Regulation and Markets at Brookings in Washington, DC; an advisory board member at Carnegie Mellon University’s Block Center for Technology and Society in Pittsburgh; and a faculty affiliate at the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Toronto. He is founder of Metaverse Mind Lab: building enterprise AI solutions for the Metaverse. He is co-founder of Sanctuary: creating the world’s first human-like intelligence in humanoid robots.
Ajay holds a PhD in applied economics from the University of British Columbia. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 2022.
Gary Griffiths A 35-year veteran of the high-tech industry, Gary has led some of the web’s most innovative companies. Prior to co-founding Wisdom LLP, Gary was CEO of iPass (NASDAQ: IPAS) as well as President of Products and Operations at WebEx. He was also co-founder/CEO of Everdream Corporation and co-founder/CEO at HEAT.net.
Gary has served on the board of directors for several private and public companies. He is currently an advisor to two private equity funds: Parthenon Capital and Day View Capital.
Jan Cerny is Managing Director of ATB Private Equity, LP. In the past, he served as Vice President and Director of Corporate Development.
He brings over 20 years of experience within the finance, energy, industrials, and technology sectors.
Jan spent over five years in Equity Research and Capital Markets focused on the Canadian energy sector. He currently sits on the boards of several private companies and nonprofits.
Jan holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta.
